European Roulette
There are two different types of roulette, European Roulette and American Roulette. The difference between american and european roulette are the number of zero’s on the roulette wheel. American roulette wheels have two zero’s (zero and double zero) which increases the house advantage. In European roulette there is only one zero, giving the house an advantage. In th elong run this means that you will loose money twice as quickly playing american roulette compared to playing european roulette.
The European roulette wheel has thirty-seven numbered pockets from one to thirty-six and zero. The pockets are red and black alternating colors. Zero is a green pocket. The player predicts the outcome of the spin. In simple terms the player must state on which pocket the ball will come to stop after a spin.
European roulette rules and regulations are pretty simple. You can bet on any particular number, any combination of numbers, any color or odd and even numbers. With European roulette the house edge is lower than American Roulette. The chance of the ball landing on any of the pockets is 1 to 36.
European Roulette – Inside & Outside Bets
The roulette table is comprised of outside and inside betting fields. The fields help you when placing your outside or inside bets. There are minimum and maximum table limits of each roulette table. Players are free to make their choice of either an inside bet or an outside bet, however, the player cannot change their bet after spinning the roulette wheel.
Inside Bets
The inside bet total should be the minimum table amount of the roulette table. Zero lies within the inside betting square. There are different options and combinations of inside bets.
Straight Up bets are bets on a single number with a payout of 35 to 1.
Split Bets allow the player to bet on two adjacent squares or pockets and the payout is 17 to 1.
Street Bets allow the player to bet on a row of numbers (3 numbers) with a payout of 11 to 1.
Line Bets help the player place two street bets. You can bet six numbers therefore the payout is 5 to 1.
Corner bets allow the player to bet on any of the four adjacent squares with a payout of 8 to 1.
Outside Bets
Zero’s lie within the inside bet square, therefore it does not figure into the outside betting area. Outside bets should total the minimum betting amounts. Outside bets create different situations.
High and Low Bets cover two squares at the bottom half of numbers with a 1 to 1 payout. The numbers can be between 1 to 18 and 19 to 35. Odd and even bets offer payout of 1 to 1 and the players have to predict even or odd numbers as the spin outcome. Similarly, color bets are for black or red outcome with a pay out of 1 to 1.
Keep in mind there are more bets but these are just the most common European roulette bets to help you get familiar with the fascinating and intriguing game of roulette.
