How To Play Roulette

Play Roulette at Rushmore Online Casino - Get $888 Free BonusIf you ever wanted to learn how to play Roulette, there is no better time to start. The fact is, most live casino goer’s view Roulette as the rich-man’s game, as the table is often surrounded by aristocratic types dressed to the nines. This attitude tends to divert the average casino goer to a different game. However, with the introduction of online casinos, players do not have to feel unwelcome when approaching the Roulette tables. Heck, you can pay in your underwear if you like!

Learning how to play Roulette is actually much easier than one might think. Below, we’ll discuss the fundamentals of the game, the Roulette Wheel, the Roulette Table, and the basics of how to place and win bets.

How to Play Roulette - Objective
The object of Roulette is to place a bet that matches the winning number. This can be done in many ways, some with better odds than others. You can bet on a single number, paying 35:1, a color (Red or Black) paying 1:1, or just about anything in between.

How to Play Roulette – The Wheel
There is only one purpose of that large, cylindrical device located at the end of the Roulette table – to reveal the winning number. Here’s how it works. The Wheel is first spun, then a small, weighted ball is dropped in. The ball will bounce its way around the wheel as it spins until finally coming to a rest in one of the 37 (or 38) slots.

In European Roulette, there are 37 slots on the Roulette Wheel, 1 through 36, and 0.

In American Roulette, there are 38 slots on the Roulette Wheel, 1 through 36, 0 and 00.

Because of this, European Roulette offers the player a slightly lower house edge, making it the game of choice where available.

Note that the 0 (and 00) have a green backdrop, while half of the remaining numbers (1-36) are Black, and the other half Red. The numbers rotate back and forth between high and low, and black and red, giving the player no advantage in choosing one or the other.

How to Play Roulette - The Table
The Roulette Table consists of all the same numbers found on the Roulette Wheel, laid out in a nice, neat little diagram for ease of betting. Every type of bet available is found on the Roulette Table. In order to place a bet, simply set your chips in the appropriate space, in accordance with your desired bet. For example, to bet place a Straight Bet on a single number, put your chips in the center of the box containing that number.

How to Play Roulette – The Betting System
There are two basic bet types in roulette, Inside Bets and Outside Bets. Inside Bets are placed within the numbered diagram of the Roulette Table and generally pay better odds, though the house edge is higher. Outside Bets are found outside the numbered diagram, and are generally easier to win, but pay lower odds of 2:1 or 1:1.
